Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element):
Ability to do the work of a Welding Worker without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common duties of a Welding Worker to include performing welds in flat, horizontal and vertical positions on mild steel, aluminum; performing overhead welding and brazing, bead welding, tack welding, flame cutting structural steel and other metals to prescribe dimensions; AND using manual welding processes such as to weld parts made of commonly used metals. I can plan and lay out the work from blueprints, sketches, drawings, specifications, and work orders; set up and operate various welding equipment; adjust the settings of welding machine to the specifications of the materials to be joined; and ensure that dimensions meet those described in blueprints, sketches, or other instructions using standard measuring instruments. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. The work involves standing, walking, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing and crawling. Work may be done in awkward and cramped positions. May handle objects weighing from 20 to 50 pounds. Working Conditions:
Constant exposure to dirt, grease, noise, odors, smoke and fumes with requirement for protective equipment such as:
safety glasses, ear plugs, safety shoes, safety clothing, aprons, gloves, welding helmet or goggles. Work is usually performed on concrete floors or as required on or in equipment being repaired. Subject to burns and eye injury when welding metal surfaces. Danger from electric shock and falls from scaffolds or ladders, infrared or ultraviolet rays and fumes and gases.
