Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element):
Ability to do the work of a Production Machinery Mechanic without more than normal supervision. Abilities include:
1) testing machinery and equipment through the use of devices such as leak detectors, flow meters, and gauges, 2) performing major and minor repairs to fixed industrial production equipment such as power saws, drill presses, and milling machines, AND 3) performing equipment assembly tasks such as installing bushings, bearings, gears, and shafts. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal SupervisionAbility to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (includes blueprint reading)Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and EquipmentKnowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc.Knowledge of MaterialsTechnical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic)Trouble Shooting PHYSICAL EFFORT Frequently handles objects weighing up to 40 pounds and occasionally carries objects weighing up to 40 pounds for considerable distance. Incumbents are required to push, pull, reach, walk, stand, crawl, kneel, bend, and climb for sustained periods of time. Sometimes works in tiring and uncomfortable positions. WORKING CONDITIONS Work is performed inside and outside exposing the repairers to the prevailing weather conditions, excessive noise and intermittent slippery or uneven surfaces. Incumbents are constantly exposed to moving objects, elevations and sharp edges with the possibility of cuts and bruises. Grease, dirt and dampness are frequently encountered. Incumbent is required to wear safety clothing and equipment appropriate for this position.
